How our coins are made!

It starts with our team of super creative people have a brilliant idea! That idea is communicated to our awesome design team, who do many different mockups.

From hundred of mockups we clear out the best, editing the coin until we have a finished design.

The 2d design goes to the 3d designer. The 3d design can take weeks, sometimes months to finish every detail!

When the design is finished, legal tender is filed at the country where you want the coin to be made. The country decides if they accept the design and to produce it as a legal way of payment, you take it to a mint who’s allowed to mint coins for that country.

Out of the 3d design, the minting-stamp is produced, which must be extremely detailed - every little error will be highly visible on the end coin. Then the pressing begins, the stamp is pressed with tons of pressure onto a silver “rohling”, often multiple times to ensure all the details are on the coin.

It can often happen that the stamp gets so used up or even breaks within one production line, that they have to produce another one.

Then the coins go to the finishing!

For example the “Galvanik” where all the parts that will stay silver get closed up and a gold layer is applied to the open ares. There, highest precision is needed: only one hole in the clothing of the coin will lead to golden parts where its not needed and you need to redo it.

In the end, the coins get polished by hand to make sure the shadows and highlighted parts are best visible. The polished coin then get packaged with highest carefulness into its final packaging.

Of course…

Some magic is also added to the coins, but this is our little secret!
